At the tail end of 2016, Jimmy Herring and John McLaughlin announced a joint tour dubbed “Meeting Of The Spirits”. Jimmy Herring—the exceptional guitarist of Widespread Panic, Aquarium Rescue Unit, Allman Brothers Band, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Dead, Jazz Is Dead and more—brought a new project, Jimmy Herring and The Invisible Whip on the road with him, while McLaughlin, the famed English guitarist and bandleader, performed music from his work with the Mahavishnu Orchestra with John McLaughlin and the 4th Dimension.With the expansive tour getting multiple extensions due to demand, each night, both musicians and their respective ensembles began by performing sets of their own, then finished off the night by coming together for a collaborative and improvisational encore.
