FARC Leader Surrenders

first_imgBy Dialogo November 02, 2010 The military commander of Front 44 of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), “Ciro Pereza” or “Ciro Cañón,” has demobilized and turned himself in together with another seven followers, the Colombian Armed Forces confirmed. According to the official report, the surrender comes in response to “the strong offensive being pursued by the troops of the Fourth Division in the jungles of the Guaviare.” The army emphasized that “Ciro Pereza” was the commander of the public-order company and the second-ranking leader of Front 44 and that he surrendered together with “Ricardo Pompis,” the head of the finance commission, “Mateo,” “Abel,” and “Samuel,” as others of the FARC guerrillas who decided to lay down their arms were identified. The information made public following the surrender of “Ciro Pereza” revealed that the guerrilla had been in the FARC for fourteen years and was responsible for the security of one of the terrorist organization’s chief leaders, known by the alias “Albeiro Córdoba.” The surrender of “Ciro Pereza” also paved the way for the surrender of guerrillas known by the aliases “Damaris,” his romantic partner, and “Bricelda,” in Puerto Alvira. The head of Front 44’s finance commission, known by the alias “Ricardo Pompis,” and a member of the terrorist organization’s militia, known by the alias “Omar,” also laid down their arms, according to the armed forces, who emphasized that “Ciro Pereza” had around two hundred guerrillas under him.last_img read more

Canada – fruit of a reckless rushed liberal cannabis policy

first_imgFinancial Post 30 July 2019Family First Comment: Canada ain’t working that well, despite claims of NZ advocates for pot…..“Black market dope continues to sell for nearly half the price of the legal stuff because bootleggers are obviously able to produce and import with impunity. This negates the Liberal notion that legalization will put the drug dealers out of business, make sure the products are not diluted or dangerous, and collect big taxes on an illicit product that people were going to buy anyway. This is Cheech and Chong policy: Eliminating the black market will be impossible because while unlicensed cannabis cultivation is illegal in Canada, possession and consumption is entirely legal. So, criminals and importers have more customers than ever.”Duh!The legalization of marijuana was cynically rushed into law by the Trudeau government without sufficient medical testing on long-term health effects or adequate controls over the players involved, presumably to court the youth vote. For a country where governments bear the cost of medical care, it is the height of recklessness to legitimize the sale of weed without the same rigorous testing requirements that pharmaceutical or food companies must endure. In addition, Ottawa has delivered the worst of all possible outcomes in what amounts to an inept rollout: Black market dope continues to sell for nearly half the price of the legal stuff because bootleggers are obviously able to produce and import with impunity.
