Italy Looks Into Wind Powered Bridge

first_imgWhen you think of wind power, the first image that probably comes to mind is that of a towering wind turbine. But there are plenty of other ways to harness the wind to create electricity. Like with a bridge, for instance.At least that’s the plan for a proposed green renovation of a bridge in Southern Italy. The idea is to fill up the viaducts — the empty space underneath a bridge — with turbines. The project has been dubbed Solar Wind, because in addition to the 26 wind turbines that would be fitted to the viaducts, the top of the bridge would lined with solar cells.
