John Cena and Roman Reigns will face off in a singles match at ‘No Mercy’ on September 24, which was announced in a contract signing on the latest episode of Monday night Raw.The hottest free-agent on the WWE roster jumped brands when he moved to Raw from SmackDown LIVE over on the August 21 episode on the ‘red’ brand. He had come down to the ring and called out WWE superstar Roman Reigns, saying that he wanted to come “face-to-face” with the ‘Big Dog’.Roman Reigns answered his call, yet the battle in the stands was not who would be cheered more but rather who get jeered and booed more loudly. WWE creative over some time now, have been criticised for their lack of originality and lacklustre booking, but this time they listened to the WWE Universe. As the two superstars came down to the ring on the past episode of Raw, in the presence of General Manager Kurt Angle, both superstars started off the contract singing with promos dissing their ‘No Mercy’ opponent. The Cena-Reigns fight is not really surprising as WWE has been preparing for the clash for over a year now. Reigns had called out Cena on the ‘Today’ show (an American Talk show on the NBC) just a day after last year’s WrestleMania 32.Uh oh, @johncena! @WWERomanReigns has a message for you! #TODAYsTake https://t.co/lqYwv9pZtD- TODAY (@TODAYshow) April 4, 2016 The Superstars, Cena and Reigns, had run-in on twitter as well back in July as both went back and forth with provocations with even calling Cena warning Reigns to be “careful what you wish for”.advertisementTold yall I’m The Big Fight. Heard Philly was a little quiet tonight, better bring their best when we return!! #Raw #MyYard #B2R https://t.co/dETfoN2sXe- Roman Reigns (@WWERomanReigns) July 24, 2017Pride…always comes before the fall.Don’t get too far ahead of yourself young man.But if U want a BigFight careful what u wish for… #RAW https://t.co/oPOTH5gVx2- John Cena (@JohnCena) July 24, 2017Real tough guy on Twitter. If u want it, you know the way to MY Yard. #Raw https://t.co/UUSRaQnMVB- Roman Reigns (@WWERomanReigns) July 24, 2017What is surprising though, is the fact that the a ‘Wrestlemania’ main event worthy match has been booked for ‘No Mercy’. WWE creative have already surprised everyone when they gave us a dream match-up of Cena and Shinsuke Nakamura in No. 1 contenders match for the Jinder Mahal’s WWE Championship title on the August 1 episode of SmackDown Live, which Shinsuke won.Cena’s and Reigns’ meeting might suggest the former’s lesser and lesser involvement in the everyday running of the company as the Superstar looks to be focussing more on his Hollywood career at this point. The other match on the ‘No Mercy’ card declared as of now, is between Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman for the Universal Championship. It raising doubts over the availability of WWE’s two most prized wrestlers, John Cena and Brock Lesnar, for Wrestlemania 34 in April next year.
