Love Islands Maura Higgins accused of sexually harassing Tommy Fury as Ofcom

Tommy Fury was subjected to unwanted kisses by an Irish model The complaints were described as “bullying” and viewers have said they are concerned for her mental health. Donlan, who is coupled up with Joe Garratt, has been perceived to be “distant” by some of the other islanders, leading to conflict in the villa.She has been brought to tears on multiple occasions after being criticised by the other female islanders for not being “friendly” enough and by Garratt for her friendship with Fury.   When contacted for comment, ITV pointed The Telegraph towards its Duty of Care statement which outlines the care given to those who appear on the show, including psychological and medical assessments, a welfare team on the ground and the fact they have trained senior staff in mental health issues.   The show is under greater scrutiny this year amid concerns producers weren’t doing enough to protect the mental health of their contestants after two suicides of previous participants were linked in part to the show.Many called for Love Island to face the axe after the news that another reality television show, Jeremy Kyle, could have been one of the factors behind the suicide of a man who had been on the show.In total Ofcom has received 794 complaints since last Friday. Another major issue responsible for the majority of complaints centred around contestant behaviour towards 21-year-old surfer Lucie Donlan. A Love Island contestant has been accused of sexually harassing a male member of the villa after Ofcom received hundreds of complaints.Maura Higgins’s advances towards Tommy Fury, the brother of the boxer Tyson Fury, during Friday night’s episode received 486 complaints.Higgins, a 28-year-old ring girl, has been trying to win Fury’s affections and tried to get him to kiss her. The Irish model lent over him and tried multiple times to kiss him, after he had politely declined the offer.  An Ofcom spokeswoman said: “We will assess these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate.” Tommy Fury was subjected to unwanted kisses by an Irish modelCredit:ITV Picture Desk
